Milan Svátek



Milan Svatek has over 35 years of international experience as an architect, land developer and building project manager. He studied the history of art and architecture (receiving BA) and architecture & urban design (B Arch) at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada.

Milan began his professional career with at the time famous Canadian architect Arthur Erickson, in Vancouver and Toronto offices, designing luxury homes, embassies, university buildings and art galleries. Jobs with other prestigious Canadian and British architecture firms followed, successively while based in Toronto, Prague, Abu Dhabi and most recently in Beijing, China (2011 – 2015). From 2000 to 2006 Milan worked in Prague as the Technical Director with land developer ORCO Group, managing a program to open new hotels in Budapest, Warsaw, and Bratislava, for the new hotel brand Mamaison Hotels & Residences.

Between 2007 and 2013 Milan worked as architect and project manager with the British architectural and urban design company GHM Design, first in Abu Dhabi, the UAE and later based in Beijing, China. During this time Milan continued to specialize in design, project management and development of commercial buildings like office parks, residential complexes, shopping malls and hotels. In 2014 he joined the Hong Kong and Berlin-based architecture company Urbanlogic Ltd. as the Project Director based in Chengdu, Sichuan. He was working on “Sichuan Art Factory and Innovation Centre” near Chengdu, which won the prestigious American Architecture Prize for 2016 and a boutique hotel on Erhai Lake in Yunnan Province in China.

While based in Beijing Milan was a regular participant at the annual Conference on “Architecture and Urban Culture” at the Beijing School of Engineering and Architecture, presenting topics on the history of Prague architecture.

Since early 2016 Milan has been managing the architecture program at the ECCEDU summer school for international students of architecture in Prague.

Milan is also the Head of the International Members Section at the Society of Czech Architects.
